The nationwide Flu outbreak has definitely been felt in Frisco. We have had a decent number of students and teachers out in the last few weeks and our nurse wanted to send the following notice to you.
We are seeing an increase in absences due to illness over the past few weeks. It is imperative that families follow the district guidelines attached when their child is ill to prevent the spread of illness among their classmates and teachers. Even if your child says they feel ok, do not send them to school until they meet the guidelines attached.
Students must eat a minimum of 2 meals without vomiting/be vomit free for 24 hours before returning to school. For fevers, they must have a temperature under 100 degrees for 24 hours without medicine. In other words, once their temperature goes under 100, start the 24-hour count. If you have to medicate them again, or if it rises back to 100, you have to start the clock over.
Also, when you are notifying attendance about an absence, please be specific as to the symptoms. The district nurses are tracking influenza and influenza-like illnesses so we really need the details.
Please do not hesitate to contact me if I can be of further assistance. Continue good hand washing and it’s not too late to get a flu shot if you haven’t done so already!
