Math/PE/Offensive Coordinator Matthew DonCarlos:

Matt DonCarlos joins the Lebanon Trail family primarily as a PE/Health teacher and Offensive Coordinator for the football team.  Coach DC has spent the last two years at Independence High, with stops at South Garland High, North Mesquite High and Channelview High before that.  In his 10 years of teaching and coaching, Coach DC has taught Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2, and Math Models and coached football, track, and baseball at his previous schools.  Originally from Baytown, Texas, Coach DC graduated from Lee High School and received his bachelor and master degrees from Texas State University.  At home, he loves spending time with his wife, Amanda, and his 3-year-old son, Graham.  The DonCarlos family also has another boy on the way at the end of May.  In addition to family time, Coach DC loves playing golf and watching any and all sporting events in person or on television.

Leon.pngHead Athletic Trainer Leon Jones:

Coach Jones did his undergraduate work at Loras College in Dubuque Iowa where he studied Sports Science, his graduate work at Florida International University in Miami Florida where he studied Advanced Sports Medicine. He resides in Texas but all of his Teams are in Chicago; “Da” Bears, White Sox, Blackhawks and “Da” Bulls! He has been an Athletic Trainer since 2001 and that journey has afforded him some great experiences at the Professional, Collegiate and Secondary School levels. Married to an extraordinary Woman blessed with 2 great boys and a little girl on the way; who will bring “Balance to the Force”. An avid golfer and all around sports fanatic that often can’t believe that he gets paid to live his dream; inspiring young people to passionately pursue healthy living and life through sports! Excited to join the Trail Blazer Team and honored to be a part of the foundation that “Great Traditions” can build upon. In the words of Susan Casey, “Sports remain a great metaphor for life’s more difficult lessons. It was through athletics that many of us first came to understand that fear can be tamed; that on a team the whole is more than the sum of its parts; and that the ability to be heroic lies, to a surprising degree, within.”
