LTHS Math Team

We are proud to introduce the LTHS Math Team.  This group of teachers joins Instructional Coach Valerie Adams to provide a stellar math experience to bring the best performance possible out of our students.

Gober_PicMs. Laura Gober:  Geometry 

Laura Gober is excited to teach math at Lebanon Trail High School! She currently teaches Geometry in Lewisville ISD. Mrs. Gober grew up in Florida, and earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Florida (Go Gators!). She married her high school sweetheart and moved all the way to California, and earned a Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from UC Berkeley. After grad school, Mrs. Gober and her husband moved to the Washington, D.C. area. She moved to Texas in 2013 and followed her lifelong dream of being a high school teacher. Now, Mrs. Gober lives in Frisco with her husband and their three daughters. She enjoys spending time with family, going on occasional dates with her husband, eating chocolate, reading, and running.

JW - Bio PictureMr. Justin Wieller:  Algebra I and Wrestling Coach

Justin Wieller is excited to be a part of the Lebanon Trail family!  Born and raised in Pennsylvania, he is a graduate of Drexel University in Philadelphia, PA where he was a 4 year starter on their division 1 wrestling team.  After graduation, Coach Wieller taught middle school in Philadelphia School District for 3 years and was an assistant wrestling coach.   This past year, he taught Algebra I and was the head wrestling coach at Lubbock High School in West Texas.  Coach Wieller moved to Texas last summer with his fiancé Sara and his 2 dogs, Addison and Riggins.  Coach Wieller remains true to his Pittsburgh Steelers, even after moving 1,500 miles away.  In his free time he likes to keep active by hiking or going for long runs with his soon to be wife.  He looks forward to meeting the Trail Blazers!

Untitled.pngMs. Melissa Lorber:  Algebra I and Algebra II

Melissa Lorber is extremely passionate about working with students, staff, and parents and cannot wait to join the LTHS team. She is a proud graduate of Texas Christian University, where she attained her Bachelor of Science and Masters in Mathematics. She has taught mathematics at the college and high school level, and has also been a curriculum writer and professional development trainer at Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD. Melissa is currently teaching Algebra 1 and Honors Algebra 2 at Ranchview High School in CFBISD, and serves on the district’s curriculum writing team for Algebra 2. During her free time, she loves to shop and run, and is currently training for her first half-marathon this winter. Melissa could not be more excited to be a Trailblazer!

Our Trail Blazing Athletics/PE Staff

We are proud to introduce this group of educators and coaches that fit the profile of a Trail Blazer.  Joining Athletic Coordinator Sadd Jackson are the following educators to help build a positive, competitive culture at LTHS focused on academics, teamwork, and competitiveness.

Girls Athletic Coordinator, Head Volleyball Coach, and PE:  Ms. Elise Swearingen:

Elise Swearengin will be joining the Trail Blazer staff as the Head Volleyball Coach, Girls Athletic Coordinator and Physical Education Teacher. Coach Swearengin has spent the last 4 years as the Varsity Assistant and Junior Varsity Volleyball Coach at Lewisville High School in Lewisville, Texas. She has also been the Varsity Assistant Coach for Track and Girls Soccer. Coach Swearengin attended Pflugerville High School and played collegiate volleyball at Temple College. After receiving her associated degree she transferred to the University of North Texas and earner her Bachelors in Kinesiology. Coach Swearengin is proud and excited to develop the Trail Blazer athletic programs and kickstart Lebanon Trail traditions. 

Maupin.pngHead Tennis Coach Stephen Maupin:

Stephen Maupin graduated with his M. Ed. from Tarleton State University in 1994 and began his coaching career as the Head Coach at Mesquite High School. He was also the Head Coach at Boswell High School for 12 years before spending the last 8 years as the Assistant Coach at Centennial High School. He is proud to be a Trail Blazer and is looking forward to blazing a path to success with the tennis program. He currently lives in McKinney with his wife Marla and daughter McKinley and still competes in local tennis leagues. He enjoys spending time with his family, fishing and rooting for the Dallas Stars.

Math/PE/Offensive Coordinator Matthew DonCarlos:

Matt DonCarlos joins the Lebanon Trail family primarily as a PE/Health teacher and Offensive Coordinator for the football team.  Coach DC has spent the last two years at Independence High, with stops at South Garland High, North Mesquite High and Channelview High before that.  In his 10 years of teaching and coaching, Coach DC has taught Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2, and Math Models and coached football, track, and baseball at his previous schools.  Originally from Baytown, Texas, Coach DC graduated from Lee High School and received his bachelor and master degrees from Texas State University.  At home, he loves spending time with his wife, Amanda, and his 3-year-old son, Graham.  The DonCarlos family also has another boy on the way at the end of May.  In addition to family time, Coach DC loves playing golf and watching any and all sporting events in person or on television. 

Leon.pngHead Athletic Trainer Leon Jones:

Coach Jones did his undergraduate work at Loras College in Dubuque Iowa where he studied Sports Science, his graduate work at Florida International University in Miami Florida where he studied Advanced Sports Medicine. He resides in Texas but all of his Teams are in Chicago; “Da” Bears, White Sox, Blackhawks and “Da” Bulls! He has been an Athletic Trainer since 2001 and that journey has afforded him some great experiences at the Professional, Collegiate and Secondary School levels. Married to an extraordinary Woman blessed with 2 great boys and a little girl on the way; who will bring “Balance to the Force”. An avid golfer and all around sports fanatic that often can’t believe that he gets paid to live his dream; inspiring young people to passionately pursue healthy living and life through sports! Excited to join the Trail Blazer Team and honored to be a part of the foundation that “Great Traditions” can build upon. In the words of Susan Casey, “Sports remain a great metaphor for life’s more difficult lessons. It was through athletics that many of us first came to understand that fear can be tamed; that on a team the whole is more than the sum of its parts; and that the ability to be heroic lies, to a surprising degree, within.”

We are proud to introduce the Trail Blazer Science Department.  Joining Science Instructional Coach Susan Moran this experienced and motivated team will provide our students a high quality and memorable Biology experience in 2016-17.

Ms. Peyton Hughes (Biology and Head Softball Coach)

Peyton Hughes is ecstatic to become a part of the Lebanon Trail community as a Biology teacher and girls athletic coach. Peyton is a graduate of Texas Tech University, and has been a Biology teacher and softball coach for two years at Lubbock Roosevelt before joining Frisco ISD. She has a passionate commitment to student development and the learning experience, and is looking forward to encouraging Trail Blazers to perform at their best every day! In her free time, Peyton loves to watch various sporting events, travel, or spend time with family.

Leslie Powell (Biology and Head Basketball Coach)

Leslie Powell is currently teaching and coaching at Liberty High School in Frisco, and she is excited to join Lebanon Trail High School as the Head Girls’ Basketball Coach. Along with coaching, she will be teaching biology. Coach Powell was born and raised in Lubbock, Texas, graduated from Texas Tech with a Bachelor’s in Nutritional Sciences, and then moved to Frisco to begin teaching and coaching. This is her 6th year in the district and she has spent all six at Liberty High School. She has taught Chemistry and Earth and Space Science, and she has coached basketball, track, and softball. Coach Powell helped guide the Redhawks to their first state championship appearance at the State Basketball Tournament in San Antonio. She is extremely excited to be a part of Lebanon Trail and is looking forward to the opportunity to open a new school. Go Trail Blazers!

Jacqueline was born and raised in Plano and graduated from The University of Oklahoma with a BS in Zoology – Biomedical Sciences. She began her education career at Wylie High School in 2013 teaching Biology and Anatomy & Physiology. She is excited to become a Trail Blazer and teach Biology this upcoming school year! In addition to her academic interests, Jacqueline enjoys traveling, running, reading and community involvement. She has visited 11 countries, run 1 marathon, 5 half marathons, reads both fiction and non-fiction, and is active in her church. She also enjoys spending time with her fiance, family and friends.
